As it happens #BRICSSummit: BRICS Nation condemn terrorism, PM Modi handshakes with President Xi Jinping and other developments

BRICS leaders in China on Wednesday strongly condemned and named in a declaration, for the first time, Pakistan-based terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and the Haqqani network.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Xiamen in China for BRICS Summit 2017. Ahead of the meetings, PM Modi said he looks forward having “productive discussions and positive outcomes” with leaders to support the agenda for a stronger partnership among the member countries of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa). Prime Minister Modi holds the bilateral meeting, starting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who PM Modi met today.

He is also expected to meet leaders of countries like Egypt, invited by China as part of the BRICS outreach program. Apart from Egypt, China has invited Kenya, Tajikistan, Mexico and Thailand as guest countries for the Summit. PM Modi’s visit to China to attend the BRICS Summit comes days after India and China ended the 73-day long Doklam standoff

Here are key takeaways from the BRICS Summit so far:

1. PM Modi sought a strong action BRICS partnership to spur growth, saying the bloc of emerging economies has developed a robust framework for cooperation and contributed to stability in a world “drifting towards uncertainty”

2. PM Modi said trade and economy were the foundations of cooperation in BRICS and called for the creation of a BRICS rating agency to cater to financing needs of sovereign and corporate entities of developing countries.

3. “I wish to announce here that China will launch the economic and technical cooperation plan for BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries with 500 million yuan for the first term to facilitate policy exchange and practical cooperation and in the economic and trade field,” Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the opening ceremony.

4. PM Modi and President Xi had met informally at the G20 summit in Germany in July, but their last bilateral talks were in June this year, when they met in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

5. That meeting had come amid growing differences between the two nations over a host of issues, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and China’s opposition to India’s efforts to enter the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

6. Later that month, Indian soldiers stopped China from building a road in the remote, uninhabited territory of Doklam, claimed by both China and Bhutan, resulting in a stand-off near the Sikkim border that lasted over two months.

7. On Sunday, Xi Jinping, without directly referring to the Doklam tension, underlined that “peace and development” should be the underpin to resolve issues as the world does not want “conflict and confrontation.” At today’s inaugural session, Mr Xi said, “Despite our differences in national conditions, our five countries are in similar stages of development and share the same development cause.”

8. After the BRICS Summit, PM Modi will travel to Myanmar on a bilateral visit on Tuesday. The trip includes a visit to the historic city of Bagan and Yangon. He will also interact with the Indian community in the country.

Major reshuffle on cards, JDU to join Narendra Modi Cabinet

As the completion of Monsoon Session of Parliament nearing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up to undertake massive reshuffle of his Cabinet till date. According to BJP top party sources, the possibility of rewarding Janata Dal (United) with representation in the Union Cabinet is a certainty following Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s dramatic move to leave the ‘mahagathbandhan’ with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD and Congress, to join the BJP. The JD(U) becoming the part of Central Government will usher the regional party joining the NDA bandwagon for once and all. The strong grapevine suggests that Prime Minister Modi may drop some of the non-performers and introduce new faces in the Union Cabinet.

BJP insiders have confirmed that the Prime Minister and party President Amit Shah have had several rounds of discussions over the impending reshuffle of Cabinet, with an eye on the crucial 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Also, there have been rumours doing rounds that Amit Shah may join Modi Cabinet as Defence Minister. However, Shah has rejected the possibilities of resigning from the Party President and joining the government. Shah said he is happy being the party President and busy preparing the next general elections. The speculation of him being joining the government gained currency following his nomination to the Rajya Sabha. Amit Shah has already filed nomination papers for the Upper House elections from Gujarat. Being a five time MLA from his home state Gujarat, Amit Shah will be fighting to become Member of Parliament for the first time in his political career.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda may be sent to his home State Himachal Pradesh to take charge of upcoming Assembly elections due in November-December this year. The party has made up its strategy to pitch him as Chief Ministerial candidate of Himachal Pradesh. Likewise, Anurag Thakur, Lok Sabha Member and son of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal is certain to get a Ministerial berth in the Union Cabinet to sooth the aspirations of Dhumal clan.

Senior party leader from Uttar Pradesh and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Minister at Centre Kalraj Mishra will be donning State Raj Bhavan as Governor soon as he has crossed the age of 75, the yardstick of working as Minister in Modi government. It is to be recalled that the Modi-Shah duo has decided to drop ministers from Union Cabinet on the ground of 75-year yardstick. Najma Heptullah, the then Minority Affairs Minister had to leave from Union Cabinet and become Governor of Manipur last year on a similar ground of crossing this threshold limit of age. The issue of age-threshold limit came into force in a big way when senior Party leaders like L K Advani, M M Joshi and others were made ‘margdarshak’ of a party.

Recently, there had been a few changes within PM Modi’s Cabinet, following which four major ministries are left without a dedicated minister. Former Union Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar, shifted to his home state Goa as the Chief Minister, after the assembly elections earlier this year. With the resignation of Parrikar from the Central cabinet, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was given the additional responsibility of the Defence Ministry. In the absence of a dedicated minister for the Environment Ministry, Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan is further undertaking additional charges. Also, M Venkaiah Naidu being a strong contender for the Vice-Presidential election will leave two crucial ministries without a dedicated minister. With Venkaiah Naidu’s resignation from the Cabinet Smriti Irani was given additional charge of Information and Broadcast Ministry and Narendra Tomar took additional charge of Urban Development Ministry. Interestingly, both Smriti Irani and Narendra Tomar lost their respective portfolios during the last cabinet reshuffle by PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Is Getting The Royal Treatment In Israel; Stays In “Most Secure Suite” In The Planet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday evening landed in Tel Aviv, marking his 66th visit to a foreign country in the last three years. Not only was he greeted majestically by his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, but the country has left no stone unturned to make Modi’s visit memorable and ‘safe’.

PM Modi, who has been put up in the iconic King David Hotel, is staying in the most secure suite in the planet, reports The Times of India.

“His suite is secured against bomb attacks, chemical attacks, everything,” Sheldon Ritz, director of operations in King David Hotel, told TOI.

Ritz, who is in charge of overseeing PM Modi’s visit said, “If the entire hotel is bombed, PM’s suite will be untouched, will come down in a pod.”

He further went on to say that a total of 110 rooms of the hotel were cleared to accommodate PM Modi and his entire delegation.

“We have hosted every US president in this century, from Clinton, Bush, Obama and, three weeks ago, Trump. And now we are hosting Mr Modi,” he added.

PM Modi’s vegan food habits have been taken into consideration, as the hotel ensured that the cookies in his suite are eggless and sugarless. In fact, the flowers are also kept in line with the likings of the Indian delegates.
In respect to Modi’s “vegan” food habits, the hotel made sure the cookies in his suite are eggless and sugarless. Even the flowers are what the Indian delegation wants.

PM Modi’s suite also has a kitchen and a list of customised ingredients for preparing Gujarati food.
“We got a list of food ingredients necessary to cook Indian food for the Prime Minister. The ingredients are all kosher because in this hotel all food has to be kosher,” he said.

In charge of cooking meals for the Indian PM is Rina Pushkarna, who is cooking dishes that are suitable for Modi.
“It’s all very spicy,” Ritz said, adding that the hotel has been filled with the aroma of spices these last few days.

Revealing the secret for King David Hotel’s top-class security, Ritz said the hotel is a part of Dan hotels, and one of the owners is Michael Federmann, who owns Ebit Systems – a drone and avionics manufacturing company. “We are the best,” he said with evident pride.

Shocking ! This BJP MP has no respect for PM Modi. Here is the proof !

PM Narendra Modi’s dream project Swach Bharat is an ambitious project for him .

He also said “A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150 birth anniversary in 2019,”

But an MP from Barabanki naming Priyanka Rawat has not taken the project seriously as a plastic bottle in hand, BJP’s Barabanki lawmaker is the first one to get onto the boat. By the time the minister climbs in, Ms Rawat has gulped down the water from the plastic bottle. Holding the bottle, she asks the minister what to do with it. Then, she looks around to see if someone would take it from her, the aides are busy getting in. so she throws into the river.

The bottle floats, like the tonnes of plastic waste including bottles that end up in Ganga and had prompted the National Green Tribunal to ban use of bottles around the river bank in neighbouring Uttarakhand.

Earlier also she was in the news for wrong reasons, as per PM Modi’s directions no MP is allowed to  keep a relative as their  secretary, but Priyanka Rawat kept her father as  representative in her constituency, later on she had to remove her father from the post owing to strict orders from PM Modi

Though, PM Modi had also launched a 20,000 crore conservation mission to clean up Ganga 8June 2014 to accomplish the twin objective of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga.

#NLCSatire: PM Modi’s Digital India In Motion. Cows Up For Sale Online After Ban On Selling Cattle.

Indians are well known for their “Jugaad” to turn situations to their favour. Whenever they find themselves trapped in a “Chakravyuha”, they tend to find the ‘other’ solutions to make their way out of that “Chakravyuha”. When Supreme Court ordered the liquor shops to be shut down within 500mts of national highways, the ‘Jugaadi’ Indian came into play, and what followed next was hilarious:

A Kerala bar put up a maze in a way to over-rule the liquor ban by the Supreme Court.

In the midst of flowing tides, the Government of India had passed an order preventing the sale of cattle. The order came down heavily on the poor farmers and the same who would sell their cattle during the unfortunate times. As it is said, Indians are good in making their own way, the third way, the ‘Jugaad’ way.

As the Digital India saw a tremendous boost under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, Indian’s took it quite seriously. A swift search on online marketplaces such as OLX shows that hundreds of cows are up for sale in the virtual world. Now, not only you can buy that ‘Reshma ka gobar’, but also, soon-to-be-a national animal, cow.

With the growing penetration of internet to the Indian masses, the use of varied use of the internet is also seen. Seeing a better future on the internet, the cattle owners said that they are happy with the internet connection they own now because of Mukesh Ambani, he says, “Hum Mukesh Ambani ka shkuriya karte hain… Agar voh nhi hote tow hum inn sab cheezon ke bare mein pata he nhi chalta… Dhanya hai Ambani jee”

Explaining the disadvantages of online selling, the gau rakshaks and ‘Humans of Hindutva’ burst out on the policies of the online e-commerce website, with lathis and dandas in their hands, they said, “Yeh online waale hum hutiya (censorship) smjhe hain kya??” With more anger on their face, he said, “Yeh online vale, inn ko jarurat nhi ki apna puura naam daalein… Aadhe naam par bhi bech skte… Jaruri nahi ki puura naam dein.” In the midst of the interview, our correspondent did have a close encounter to death. A boy came running shouting, “Bhai kisi Arjit ne gaaye bechi hai online” Unfortunately, our correspondent did share the same name, so they started looking them with a weird look and, in a way was threatening him. After much persuasion, they let him free with 20 sit-ups and feed 20 cows. He is now bankrupt.

Prime Minister dream of Digital India is now becoming a reality with the same effort.

PM Narendra Modi Aims At Making Northeast ‘Gateway to Southeast Asia’

The government aims to make Northeast India a gateway to Southeast Asia and was making huge investments in the overall development of the region, but the lack of cleanliness could hamper this dream, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday.

“If such a beautiful gateway is unclean, diseased, illiterate or misbalanced, then it will fail to cross the gateway of the country’s development. There is no reason why, with all our resources, we should remain backward or poor,” the Prime Minister said.

Addressing the centenary celebrations of the prominent voluntary organization, Bharat Sevashram Sangha, in Shillong through video conferencing, he lamented that “only Gangtok had found a place among the first 50 clean cities”, out of the 12 cities from the Northeast surveyed as part of the recent nationwide cleanliness survey.

While four Northeastern cities found a place between 100 and 200 clean cities, seven were positioned between 200 and 300, with Shillong being the 276th, he said while stressing that ‘Swachhata’ or cleanliness was a major challenge for everyone in the region.

“We have to make the Northeast a gateway for Southeast Asia,” Modi said, adding if this gateway is dirty, then the dream would not be fulfilled and asked the people and organizations like the Sangha to join hands with the state governments and their agencies in the cleanliness campaign.

Observing that there has been no balanced development in the entire Northeast so many years after Independence, Modi said his government, “with all its resources”, had planned to bring about balanced development of the states here. He said the major thrust was to improve connectivity and develop the entire region for tourism purposes.

“All these initiatives will help to make the Northeast the gateway of Southeast Asia,” he said. While an investment of Rs40,000 crore is being made to improve the road infrastructure in the entire Northeast, 19 big railway projects have also been started in the region, he said. “We are also improving the electricity situation in the Northeast and trying to bring even more tourists to the region,” Modi said.

Announcing that the Northeast would soon be connected with UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik) scheme, he said small airports were also being developed in the region, while the extension of the runway at Shillong airport has been approved.

The Bharat Sevashram Sangha is a network of volunteers across the globe engaged in helping people in distress. The Sangha’s social welfare activities include disaster relief, spreading education, providing healthcare facilities, vocational training, and upliftment of the tribals.

Lauding the role of the Sangha in playing a critical role during natural calamities, the Prime Minister said a myth was sought to be created that spirituality and service cannot go together. “The Bharat Sevashram Sangha has been able to dispel this myth, through its work,” he said, saying that societal development through ‘Bhakti’, ‘Shakti’ and ‘Jan Shakti’ was achieved by Swami Pranavananda, the Sangha’s founder. He said Sangha, with more than 100 branches and over 500 units, had rendered services during various calamities, starting from the Bengal famine in 1923 and Noakhali riots in 1946 to Bhogal gas leakage in 1980, the Tsunami in 2004 and 2013 Uttarakhand tragedy.

And, adding to the list of these impressions, PM Modi travelled from Lok Kalyan Marg to Delhi Airport in normal traffic with no route restriction.

There are hundreds of people included just for the security of the PM. 100s of security personnel, police personnel and traffic police cover and ensures the safety of the PM.

With this decision, PM Modi not only reduced the workload of the entire security personnel but also avoided the hassle that would be faced by the people.

Whether it’s dealing with the public or making opposition falling down to their knees.  Above all, PM Modi is better known for his witty comment on the opposition and on time sarcasm to turn the situation to his favour.

In a video, PM Modi is seen delivering a speech where his mic suddenly goes off. Instead of panicking out, he casually calms the situation to his favour by saying “Khabar yeh nhi aye gi ki mic kharab hua, khabar yeh aayegi ki Modi ki bolti band”. Watch his on time sarcasm here:

After The UK Terror Attack, PM Modi Tweets, ‘India Stands With The UK In The Fight Against Terrorism’

A major emergency operation is ongoing around the UK Parliament in London after pedestrians were mowed down by a car nearby, and a stabbing inside the premises. One woman has died and others have catastrophic injuries. At least 10 people had lost their life, after being struck by a vehicle which mounted the pavement on Westminster Bridge.

Inside parliament’s grounds, a policeman was stabbed before being shot by armed officers. Police have called it a terrorist attack. Prime Minister Theresa May was declared safe and is due to chair a meeting of the government’s emergency committee

What we know so far:

  • The incident happened at around 2.30pm GMT.

  • A woman was killed, after a terrorist attack on Parliament in Westminster, London, others with catastrophic injuries.

  • Three French school students are reportedly among the injured, though the extent of their injuries is unknown.

  • The attack involved a car which witnesses say hit pedestrians onWestminister bridge, before crashing near parliament
  • A policeman was stabbed inside the grounds of parliament. Others are said to be heavily wounded.

  • The police then shot at least one assailant, though their condition is currently unknown.

MPs and government staff have been locked inside parliament at Westminster, though we are seeing pictures of people being let out of the Palace of Westminster.

  • Tourists are trapped on the London Eye, which as now stopped with tourists on board.

There are a number of casualties including police officers; they cannot confirm numbers or the nature of the injuries. The police said they received several different reports today including a person in the River Thames, a car involved in a collision with pedestrians and a man armed with a knife. Paramedics were seen on Westminster Bridge Road treating people lying on the ground.

UK has declared a major incident and the priority is to assess patients and ensure that they are treated and taken to hospital as soon as possible, additional officers are being deployed across London today and the public is asked to remain vigilant. Anyone with images or videos is asked to turn them over to police.

The incident might have taken place due to the reverse action to the UK’s decision over ban on the Muslim countries airport flights travelling over and across the country, no flights can cross over the state whereas no electronic devices ( which are limited now)  can be taken in the flights. The United States and The United Kingdom on Tuesday imposed restrictions on carrying on electronic devices on planes coming from the airports of Muslim majority countries in west Asia and North Africa in response to unspecified security threats. The move was initiated on the context of smuggling of explosives devices inside electronic gadgets.

The French Prime Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, has confirmed that a number of French students were among casualties on Westminster Bridge.

Following the terror attack in the UK, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, too, showed the sympathy with the deceased. In his tweet, he says that thoughts are with the families of the killed and the wounded.
