Amritpal Singh, the leader of Waris Punjab De, finds himself embroiled in legal matters as he remains incarcerated at Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act.

Despite his confinement, Amritpal Singh is determined to make his mark in the political arena by contesting the upcoming elections for the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat.

Rajdev Singh Khalsa, representing Amritpal Singh as his legal counsel, has affirmed to The Indian Express that his client intends to run as an Independent candidate for the coveted seat.

Khalsa, who is currently in Dibrugarh, conveyed that he had a meeting with Amritpal Singh, during which the decision to contest from Khadoor Sahib was confirmed.

Additionally, there are rumblings suggesting that a mainstream political party is mulling over the possibility of offering support to Amritpal Singh’s candidacy, albeit from the sidelines.

This development underscores the complex interplay between legal challenges and political aspirations as Amritpal Singh endeavors to secure a foothold in the realm of electoral politics despite the constraints imposed by his current circumstances.
