Hardik Pandya Wins Hearts By Giving His Father A Surprise Visit

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya came for some criticism for his below-par performance in the recently-concluded Test series in England that India lost 1-4. However, Hardik took to Instagram and shared a video of paying a surprise visit to his father that struck a chord with his fans. In the video, captioned as “when you surprise daddy, #seeinghimafter3month”, Hardik can be seen waking up his father and greeting him with a warm hug. The expression on his father’s face tells how happy he was to see his son.

SL Vs SA Test: Danushka Gunathilaka Suspended From All International Cricket by SLC

Sri Lanka batsman Danushka Gunathilaka has been suspended from all forms of international cricket by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) pending an inquiry. The development came at the end of the third day’s play in the second and final Test between Sri Lanka and South Africa in Colombo.

Gunathilaka’s fee for the match would also be withheld pending the outcome of the inquiry. Details about the exact nature of Gunathilaka’s offence have not been revealed yet.

Gunathilaka has been no stranger to controversy. In January he was officially reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Twenty20 International tri-series against Bangladesh when he gave Tamim Iqbal a send-off, which earned him one demerit point.

Gunathilaka was also officially reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ODI tri-series final in Mirpur, in January earlier this year, and consequently had one demerit point added to his disciplinary record.

In the ongoing Test match, which Sri Lanka are in a superb position to win and seal the series 2-0, Gunathilaka has played a big part, scoring 57 and 61.

Earlier, Gunathilaka was suspended for three matches by SLC last October for misconduct during the home series against India.

Ind Vs SL U19: Arjun Tendulkar Claims Maiden International Wicket

There was criticism from certain quarters when Arjun Tendulkar was selected for the India U-19 team. However, like his dad, the maestro Sachin Tendulkar has always done, Arjun too has managed to shut up critics with his on-field exploits.

Arjun Tendulkar, who is a  left arm pacer unlike Sachin took a wicket early for his side against Sri Lanka Under-19 in the first Youth Test match which is being held at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. Captain Anuj Rawat got Arjun to bowl the first over of the match.

And Arjun didn’t disappoint his skipper, as he got a wicket of the last ball of his second over. According to reports, Arjun trapped Kamil Mishara in front of the wicket to get his first scalp for India. Mishara is bit of a prodigy, who made his first-class debut at the age of 15.

India U-19 will play 2 Youth tests. This is the first outing for junior Tendulkar and fans will hope that Arjun will continue to make India proud in the future. Arjun Tendulkar had been earlier spotted in Indian nets, bowling to legends. Surely, he will like to bring that experience to play while bowling to the Lankan cricketers.

Earlier Indian bowling coach for U-19, Sanath Kumar had said about Arjun Tendulkar that “he will be like any other member of the team”.

Sri Lanka vs Windies: Dinesh Chandimal Banned For Third Test For His Involvement In Ball-Tampering

Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal will miss his side’s third Test against the West Indies after being found guilty of ball tampering by the International Cricket Council on Tuesday.

“It is clear that Dinesh Chandimal applied an artificial substance to the ball, namely saliva containing the residue of something he had in his mouth, an action which is prohibited under the ICC Code of Conduct,” said match referee Javagal Srinath after the judgement.

The skipper was suspected of using saliva and a sweet to tamper with the ball and give it more spin after television images picked it up.

The Sri Lanka captain got two suspension points and was fined 100 per cent of his match fee.

“Dinesh took something from his pocket and put it into his mouth. After sucking or chewing whatever he put in his mouth for a few seconds Dinesh then proceeded to spit on his finger and polish the ball with his saliva which would have contained the residue of the artificial substance that he had in his mouth, on two separate occasions,” he said.

The referee also said that Chandimal had been less than convincing in his defence.

“During the hearing, Dinesh admitted to putting something in his mouth but couldn’t remember what it was, which I found unconvincing as a defence,” he said.

Now the skipper Chandimal would miss the day/night Barbados Test, starting from Saturday. With the draw in the second Test, West Indies lead the three-match Test series 1-0 at the moment.

India rise to second place, Virat Kohli’s ICC T20 cricket ranking falls

Virat Kohli married Anushka Sharma in Italy. Being away from action has not only cost Kohli a demotion in ICC T20 rankings, but also reduction in rating points.

The funny memes that flooded social media following Virat Kohli’s marriage with Anushka Sharma— with Rohit Sharma making most of the opportunity as a stand-in captain as well as with the bat against Sri Lanka — took a serious mathematical turn on Monday when it emerged that the Indian captain has actually suffered a dip in ICC ratings and ranking.

However, 3-0 series win over Sri Lanka gave the Indian cricket team a massive push as it leapfrogged England, New Zealand and West Indies to become world No 2 ranked T20 International team, with their arch rivals Pakistan firmly fixated at the top.

“India have moved up from their pre-series tally of 119 points to 121 points. They have leapfrogged England, New Zealand and the Windies to move from fifth to second position in a list led by Pakistan with 124 points,” ICC said in a release on Monday.

Virat Kohli, who missed India’s ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka due to his much-celebrated marriage with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, has dropped to third spot in ICC Rankings for batsmen in T20 International cricket.

Kohli has also lost rating points as he has ‘slipped from 824 points to 776 points’ as per the latest ICC release.

(Aaron) Finch moved up one place as did Windies left-handed opener Evin Lewis, even as Virat Kohli slipped to third position after missing the series due to personal commitments.

“As players lose two per cent of their rating points for each T20I missed, Kohli, has slipped from 824 points to 776 points,” the ICC explained.

India’s limited-overs specialist Jasprit Bumrah too slipped to the third place in ICC Rankings for bowlers in T20 cricket, as he missed the final match in Mumbai on Sunday, after remaining wicketless in the first two matches at Cuttack and Indore, respectively.

Among bowlers, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal’s eight wickets in the series have helped him move up 14 slots to reach 16th position while Hardik Pandya (up 40 places to joint-39th) and Kuleep Yadav (up 48 places to 64) have also moved northwards after taking six wickets each.

Among others, former Australia T20I captain Aaron Finch has become world No 1 batsman and Bumrah’s slip saw Pakistan’s Imad Wasim becoming top ranked bowler.

After Anushka, Virat Kohli comes up with an interesting reply to Rohit Sharma’s wedding advice

On an uneventful Monday of December 11, Indian skipper Virat Kohli put an end to all the rumours surrounding his wedding. As news channels flashed headlines announcing his marriage to Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, Twitterati poured in their congratulatory messages for the newly-wed couple. Cricketer Rohit Sharma, too, joined in the bandwagon with a bit of advice for either. Kohli, today, came up with a cheeky reply to the Hitman’s Tweet.

Monday evening of December 11 flashed Kohli’s marriage with Anushka. And within the remaining hours of the day, social media sites were filled with pictures and videos and congratulatory posts for the couple. Rohit, who has shared umpteen partnership records with Kohli, also took to his Twitter handle to join the bandwagon. He tweeted, “Congratulations you two! @imVkohli, I’ll share the husband handbook with you. @AnushkaSharma, keep the surname.” Well, there came an bit assistance for Kohli and a word of advice for Anushka.

And a week after the dubbed ‘marriage of the decade’, Kohli replied to Rohit’s Twitter message. Thanking the Indian opener, he said, “Rohit, and please do share the Double Hundred Handbook as well.” Well, the skipper may have notched up quite a few double tons in Tests, but not a single has come up in ODIs, so far. Ergo, the handbook is justifiable, isn’t it?

Towards the end of last week, Anushka too had come up with a reply to Rohit’s advice. She said, “Hahaha thanks Rohit! And congratulations on your splendid innings.”

Well, both did congratulate the opener on his record-breaking third double ton in ODIs during the second match against Sri Lanka. His stunner with the willow helped India level the series 1-1. Later, on Sunday, the Men in Blue bagged an eight-wicket win to etch their eighth successive ODI series win.

And, for Kohli and Anushka, they are busy with their honeymoon schedules. Kohli will join the squad for the three-match Test series against South Africa, starting January 5, next year.

Ravindra Jadeja hits six sixes in an over in SCA tournament

India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja made a statement at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium by hitting six sixes in an over in an inter-district T20 tournament between Jamnagar and Amreli.

The left-handed all-rounder joined an elite list on Friday after he smashed Yuvraj Singh-like six sixes in an inter-district T20 tournament in Rajkot.

Jadeja lit the inaugural edition of the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) tournament while playing for Jamnagar when he hit all the six deliveries of an over out of the park. Sir Jadeja notched up a blistering 69-ball 154 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association ‘B’ ground to help Jamnagar register a 121-run victory over Amreli.

After hitting a total of 15 fours and 10 sixes in his spectacular knock, Jadeja was run out in the 19th over. With the help of Jadeja’s knock, Jamnagar posted a mammoth total of 239/6 batting first. The victory earned Jamnagar four points. The tournament features sixteen teams divided into four groups.

Jamnagar are slated to play their next game against Botad on Saturday.

Jadeja was last seen playing for India in the Test series against Sri Lanka, where he finished with 10 wickets in three matches.

After being a regular across all formats, Jadeja has gone off the radar in the limited overs format as India have gone with Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel or Kuldeep Yadav in the spin department. His knock might have come in an inter-district tournament but that could be enough for the selectors to give him another chance. It can pretty well serve as a remainder to all those who think that Jadeja is no longer an impact player for the Indian side, at least in the shorter versions of the game.

So guys if you want to congratulate Sir Jadeja for his six sixes and such fantastic inning then do share your views on the same in below comment section.

Rohit Sharma funds stranded Sri Lankan fan’s ticket back home

India captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were informed of Nilam’s situation by Sudhir Gautam, the superfan of Sachin Tendulkar. Rohit immediately stepped in to sort out his return ticket.

A Sri Lankan fan has revealed how timely financial assistance from star India batsman Rohit Sharma helped him to get to Colombo to attend to his father who was diagnosed with throat cancer. Mohamed Nilam, who was following the Sri Lankan cricket team on the India tour along with two others, was informed of his father’s medical condition during the third Test in Delhi.

Nilam, who had to immediately go back for his father’s surgery, did not have sufficient funds to book a new ticket. India captain Virat Kohli and Rohit were informed of his situation by Sudhir Gautam, the superfan of Sachin Tendulkar. Rohit immediately stepped in to sort out Nilam’s return ticket.

“Rohit called me to the team hotel and gave me the (Rs 20,000 approx) ticket. The surgery went well. I was disturbed when I heard about my father’s health, Rohit has a big heart and he immediately arranged for my return ticket. He is a gem of a person,” Nilam told Mid-Day.

That’s not all. Rohit even offered financial help for the surgery, but Nilam refused it.
Virat too got in touch with the Lankan to ask him whether he needed any help.
“When Virat Bhai came to know about my father’s health, he too messaged me and asked if I needed any help. I congratulated Virat Bhai on his wedding. I feel blessed and lucky to get so much love from Indian cricketers. They have always been very helpful in arranging match tickets whenever we come to watch them,” Nilam added.

On Wednesday, Rohit led from the front with a historic third ODI double ton (208*) to power India to a series-levelling 141-run win over Sri Lanka at the Punjab Cricket Association I.S. Bindra Stadium.
Coming into the match, the Mumbai batsman was the only cricketer to have hit two double tons. Rohit’s knock was the highest by an Indian captain against Sri Lanka.
