Khar Gymkhana suspends Hardik Pandya’s three year membership

Following the sexist comments made by Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on Koffee with Karan, Khar Gymkhana, a reputed sports club in Mumbai has cancelled the honorary three year membership offered to Hardik Pandya.

“We are receiving a lot of comments and outcry in through our social media against Hardik Pandya and his sexist comments. Particularly the women members are asking the club to take actions. In our managing committee meeting, we have decided to cancel the membership we had given Mr. Pandya last October”, said Gaurav Kapadia, Gen Secretary of Khar Gymkhana.

Pandya has earlier lost his deal with Gillette and is also been suspended from BCCI because of the Koffee with Karan controversy. He was considered a pin up boy of Indian cricket team until the controversy hit him.

They have already asked by BCCI to return from the tour of Australia. Their future is still  uncertain.

The first match of the three ODI series between India and Australia is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Indian team has come out with four key bowlers in today’s match. India won the first ever series against Australia by 2-1 after the final test ended in a draw. The match was interrupted because of bad weather conditions. India scored 622 for 7 in their first innings but however, rain became a spoiler factor.

India also won the first test in Adelaide by 31 runs and the third test in Melbourne by 137 runs. The match started by 10 am (local time) but the match had to be stopped by 2:30 (local time) when the rain interrupted the game.

On the first and second day of matches, the main top scoring players were Chateshwar Pujara(193runs) and Rishab Pant(159runs). India won the series by 2-1.

Prakash Mehta, housing minister who representated state government in the funeral of famous cricket coach Ramakant Archrekar said it is “sad and unfortunate” that he was not given a state funeral.

He further added that not giving him a state funeral might be a “communication gap” at the government level. He was Sachin Tendulkar’s first coach. “It is someone’s mistake which caused communication gap. Me being a government representative, I apologise and I will check what happened”, Mr Mehta told the reporters.

Mr Prakash Mehta, the former Mumbai BJP chief said that he will speak to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on this matter. Coac Archrekar was the childhood coach of Sachin Tendulkar who died on Wednesday at his Shivaji Park residence.

Master batsman Virat Kohli said on Wednesday that his back spasms could hinder his stellar career, he also insisted all players suffer from “Niggles”.

Kohli experienced pain at the day two of Melbourne Test against Australia after he was out for 82 runs, he received a treatment from a physio. The 30-year-old, crucial for India’s success is suffering from back problems, but he says it’s not a major concern.

“I’ve had this issue since 2011, it’s nothing New,” Kohli said. He further added that he is not too bothered about the pain because he is maintaining it doing physical exercises & workout.

PV Sindhu creates history, becomes 1st Indian to win BFW world tour finals

PV Sindhu won the finals of the 2018 BWF World Tour Finals in China on Sunday. Sindhu, ranked sixth in the world, defeated World No 5, and defending champion, Nozomi Okuhara in straight sets 21-19, 21-17 to clinch that elusive gold medal at a major tournament.

In the finals, Sindhu faced her old nemesis, Nozomi Okuhara of Japan. The scoreline belies the seesaw nature of the match as the two shuttlers pushed each other to the limit. Sindhu started off in high spirited as she went up 14-6 in the first game. But Okuhara fought her way back and leveled the scores at 16-16. Then, again, Sindhu won some crucial points at the end to close out the first game 21-19.

In the second game also, both the players fought valiantly for each point. However, Sindhu was always slightly ahead of Okuhara. Okuhara committed a couple of errors that helped Sindhu get three match points. There was to be no comeback from Okuhara in the second game, and Sindhu converted her first match point to win the final and She won the second game 21-17. Then she maiden BWF World Tour Finals title.

Sindhu is also becoming the first Indian to win this tournament. The sight of PV Sindhu falling to her knees after the last point, with tears running down her face, will likely become an iconic moment in Indian sports. This win is a big relief to the badminton ace who had faltered in the finals of many tournaments including the Olympics and the Asian Game.

“I have no words, this is my first win in this year, every time I feel like coming to final and winning it but this will be the most memorable I would say because I think it was a really good game and I’m really very proud. The year has ended on a very beautiful note,” Sindhu said.
