The trailer for “Mr. & Mrs. Mahi,” featuring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, teases a captivating blend of emotions, centered around the worlds of cricket, love, and unfulfilled aspirations. The storyline orbits around an unlikely duo, Mahi (portrayed by Janhvi Kapoor) and her fiancé, also named Mahi (played by Rajkummar Rao), who share a mutual love for cricket despite their divergent personalities. While Mahi is depicted as a bibliophile, her partner is entrenched in social media and mundane tasks like sales bills. Flashbacks unravel Rao’s character’s dashed hopes of making it to the Indian national cricket team, laying the groundwork for their intertwined journey.

As the trailer unfolds, Mahi’s latent cricketing talents come to the fore, prompting her husband to step in as her coach, despite her established career as a doctor. The narrative weaves through dramatic turns and personal ambitions as Mr. and Mrs. Mahi navigate their shared passion for cricket amidst individual aspirations and adversities. The trailer hints at a narrative rich in fervor, resolve, and the pursuit of unrealized dreams, promising an enthralling amalgamation of sports and drama.

“Mr. & Mrs. Mahi” is a Dharma Productions venture, announced via a tweet from the studio’s official handle in 2022, showcasing a snippet of the film alongside the caption emphasizing the collaborative journey towards realizing dreams. Directed by Sharan Sharma, known for helming “The Kargil Girl” and “Gunjan Saxena,” this sports drama marks the second collaboration between Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, following their pairing in the horror comedy “Roohi.” Originally slated for release in 2022, then rescheduled for April 2024, the film is now set to hit theaters on May 31, 2024.

Apart from “Mr. & Mrs. Mahi,” Janhvi Kapoor is also involved in projects like “Ulajh” and her Telugu debut in Jr NTR’s forthcoming action-thriller “Devara: Part 1.” Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao’s film “Shrikanth” has garnered positive responses in India, grossing over ₹11 crore within three days of its release, as per Rao is also slated to appear in “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” and “Stree 2.”
