Modi on G20 Delhi Summit 2023: ‘Expanding G20 Beyond Modi’s Influence Was My Choice’
As the Lok Sabha elections of 2024 unfold with intensity, the political landscape of India sees the two national giants, the Congress and the BJP, engaging in a fierce battle to gain ground through impactful speeches and rallies. With three phases already completed, the fourth phase emerges as pivotal, particularly for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who seeks re-election from Varanasi for the third consecutive term.
Prior to filing his nomination papers, PM Modi sat down for an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak’s Chitra Tripathi, exuding confidence in the support of Uttar Pradesh and expressing belief that the state will continue to stand by him despite his third-time candidacy.
Critiquing his opponent, Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi questioned Gandhi’s decision to contest from Rae Bareli after relinquishing his seat in Wayanad, Kerala, and criticized his manner of speech, implying that his tenure in Kerala had not been favorable.
Furthermore, PM Modi addressed the issue of dynasty politics, asserting that the people of Uttar Pradesh have grown resistant to it, citing the electoral defeats of Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav as evidence. Instead, he praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, attributing transformative changes in the state to his governance.
PM Modi also commended BJP governance, highlighting its significance for Uttar Pradesh’s progress. In response to Sharad Pawar’s prediction of smaller parties merging with Congress, PM Modi interpreted it as an acknowledgment of Congress’s inability to lead a viable opposition, viewing the merger as an attempt to strengthen the opposition front.
Reflecting on the G20 summit held in New Delhi, PM Modi emphasized his intention to leverage the conference to showcase India’s diversity, extending beyond Delhi to various cities across the country to offer decision-makers from around the globe a comprehensive understanding of India’s vastness and richness.
Additionally, PM Modi shared poignant insights into the wisdom imparted by his mother, underscoring the values of integrity, honesty, and compassion towards the less fortunate as guiding principles for a principled life.
