“Delhi Hospitals on High Alert Following Bomb Threat Calls Amid School Scare”

On Tuesday morning, May 14, several hospitals in Delhi, including Deepchand Bandhu Hospital, Dada Dev Hospital, Hedgewar Hospital, and Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, were targeted with bomb threat calls, escalating concerns over security in the region.

The Delhi Police revealed that the threat was not confined to hospitals alone; earlier on May 12, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) received a bomb threat via email from an unidentified source, heightening tensions across the city.

Subsequent to this, similar threats were reported at government medical facilities such as Burari Government Hospital and Mangolpuri’s Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, prompting the initiation of a comprehensive investigation by law enforcement agencies. The gravity of the situation is underscored by the fact that these incidents occurred in the aftermath of a series of bomb threats directed at over 150 schools in the Delhi-NCR region, causing widespread alarm among parents and authorities alike.

Despite the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) categorizing the airport threat as a “hoax,” the police remained vigilant, receiving information about the threat at Burari Hospital on May 12 afternoon, subsequently followed by reports from various other medical institutions across the city.

Security operations were swiftly deployed to assess the veracity of the threats, with multiple hospitals, including Guru Nanak Dev Eye Hospital, Gramin Swastha Prashikshan Sansthan in Najafgarh, and ILBS in Vasant Kunj, undergoing thorough checks by local law enforcement agencies.

Even the CPRO building in Connaught Place underwent scrutiny, albeit yielding no evidence of suspicious activity.

Notably, the Security Operations Control Centre at IGI Airport intensified security measures in response to the threat, although no incendiary devices were discovered at the time of reporting. Nonetheless, authorities remained on high alert, reinforcing security protocols and taking necessary legal measures to ensure the safety of the public and critical infrastructure.
