Ministry of Home affairs issues a notice to Rahul Gandhi to clarify his Nationality

Today, Director of Citizenship issued a notice to Congress Party President Rahul Gandhi and ordered him to clarify his Nationality. This matter came into consideration when BJP MP Subramanian Swami represented this matter to the Ministry of Home Affairs. In which he stated that a company named Backshop Limited registered in the United Kingdom in the year 2003, with address 51 Southgate Street , Winchester, Hampshire SO23 9EH and Rahul Gandhi is held as one of the Directors and Secretory.

It has been further brought out in the complaint that in the Company’s Annual Returns filed on 10/10/2005 and 31/10/2006, Rahul Gandhi’s DOB has been given as 19/05/1970 and that he had declared his nationality as British. Further, in the dissolution application dated 17/02/2009 of the Backops Limited, his nationality has been mentioned as British.
