LGBTQ community of Bhopal has come together to celebrate its first ever Gay Pride Parade today in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Pride parade or sometimes known as pride marches or pride festivals is a march involving members of LGBTQ community and their allies who come together to celebrate gender equality, love, and different sexualities and to fight against heterosexual stereotype.
Times of India reported that the carnival, where the community is also discussing several important issues related to LGBTQ rights has begun on May 13th.

LGBTQ activist Harish Ayer told TOI that the idea only came to fruition because some courageous ones were able to reach out to local LGBTQ community; he further adds that many people in Bhopal had sent him messages, seeking supports from him.
“If a gay pride parade could happen in Lucknow, there was no reason why one couldn’t be organised in Bhopal,” Iyer said.
The parade will start from Van Vihar in Bhopal at 5 pm today and end at Hotel Lake.
