In South Delhi’s Hauz Khas Village, Three Neighborhood Pubs Shut Due To Disregard Noise Norms

Noise pollution is the evil-doer to destroy the conformity of Society. A short time ago in Hauz Khas Village, the matter of creating unwanted noise pollution arose. A Hauz Khas resident approached the tribunal last year complaining about noise pollution.

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has ordered specifically to the local pubs and bars, which are located beside the apartments. The reason for the noise population occurring in society is nothing new, following this, in December 2023 the DPCC inspection disclosed 23 pubs, and among these 11 pubs are violating the norms. A resident approached the tribunal and the authorities to take imperative actions on this tribulation. A report outlining the circumstances has been provided to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) by the DPCC.

As per EC, Environmental Compensation, a Rs 10, 000 fine has been charged to those lawbreaker pubs. The DPCC later modified in a letter dated April 2, the pubs and local entertaining hubs that have avoided installing a pollution control device and without obtaining mandatory consent to operate, CTO has imposed a fine of Rs 7,50,000, the consent under the provisions of the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 19821.

According to the NLC approach, The Central Pollution Control Board categorization, CPCB has innovated an approach to categorizing Orange alerts for restaurants, pubs, and other entertainment hubs that welcome a high mass of gatherings. As per the DPCC dated March 2022, the unit is Rs 3,75,000. The amount gets doubles if the unit is operating without consent.
