Actor ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay Gears Up to Launch Political Party; Holds Meeting with 200 Party Council Members

Popular Tamil actor Vijay has taken a significant step toward launching his own political party in Tamil Nadu. Sources reveal that he has been elected as the party president, and efforts are underway to register the party with the Election Commission of India. Approximately 200 members of the party’s general council participated in a meeting ahead of the registration process. The party has appointed a General Secretary and Treasurer, and a Central Executive Committee has been formed. The council has given Vijay the authority to decide on the party’s name and registration, signaling his entry into electoral politics.

Sources suggest that Vijay plans to enter politics before the 2026 state polls in Tamil Nadu. The party’s name is likely to include “Kazhagam” in keeping with the state’s political traditions.

Known as the potential successor to Rajinikanth in Tamil cinema, Vijay, with 68 films to his credit, has harbored political aspirations for more than a decade. He has actively engaged his fan clubs in various charitable and welfare activities, such as free food distribution, educational scholarships, libraries, evening tuition, and legal assistance.

In a recent initiative, Vijay organized a program to honor and felicitate student toppers in public exams on a constituency-wise basis. During the event, he encouraged students to read about influential leaders like Ambedkar, Periyar, and Kamaraj, advising them to extract the positive aspects from their teachings.

Vijay’s father, the acclaimed film director Chandrasekhar, adds to his influence in the industry. Vijay’s films often address sensitive public interest topics and have gained him a dedicated following in the state. Some of his movies have taken controversial stances, targeting governments over the years.
