105 years old Great grandmother clear fourth standard equivalency examination.
A 105 years old great grandmother from Kerela, who appeared for the fourth standard equivalency examination, has come out with flying colours, making her the oldest student in the country to clear the paper.
The centenarian- Bhageerathi Amma, had appeared for the examination conducted by the state of literacy mission, at Kollam last year and the result was announced by the literacy mission on Wednesday.
The elderly woman had to drop her dream of education after the death of her mother, as she had to take care of her younger siblings.
Fate challenged her again when she became a widow at the age of thirty and has the responsibility of her six children on her shoulders alone.
She took almost three days to complete the 3 question paper of Environment, Mathematics, and Malayalam, as she faced difficulty in writing due to her age. She scored 205 out of 275 marks and scored 100% in Mathematics.
Bhageerathi Amma has 3 children, 12 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Literacy mission director P S Srikala visited the woman in Kollam, to congratulate her. Then Bhageerathi Amma expressed her wish clear till the tenth standard equivalency examination.
This makes Bhageerathi Amma be the oldest student to clear the fourth standard equivalency test in India till date.
