Praveen Kumar of India created history in Tokyo Paralympics. He won a silver medal in the final of the men’s T-64 event. However, Praveen missed out on winning the gold medal in this match. At one time he was in the race for a gold medal. India has so far won 11 medals at the Tokyo Paralympics. This includes two gold, six silver, and three bronze medals. Indian athlete Praveen Kumar has created history in the Tokyo Paralympics. He won a silver medal in the final of the men’s T-64 event. In this match, Praveen, a resident of Noida, jumped 2.07 meters and finished second. Britain’s Broom Edwards Jonathan took the gold medal with a jump of 2.10m. While Poland’s Lepiota Masiejo of Poland won the bronze medal with a jump of 2.04m.
However, Praveen missed out on winning the gold medal in this match. At one time Praveen was in the race to win the gold medal. But Britain’s Broom Edwards turned him back. After which the Indian athlete had to be satisfied with the silver medal.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Praveen Kumar on this historic achievement. In his congratulatory message, PM Modi tweeted and wrote, ‘Proud to win a silver medal in Paralympics Praveen, this medal is the result of his hard work and constant hard work, congratulations to him. In the T-64 event, players who have had to amputate their legs for some reason and play standing with artificial legs. Presently Praveen comes from the T-44 category and he can take part in T-64 as well. At the same time, India’s medal tally has now increased to four in the high jump event at the Tokyo Paralympics. Mariyappan Thangavelu, Sharad Kumar, and Nishad Kumar have already won medals from India in this event.
