This national karate champion thrashed Harayna cop who was harassing her

On Thursday 5th of April, in Rohtak, Haryana, when 21-year-old Neha Jangra boarded an auto, a traffic policeman badgered his way into the auto. What he didn’t know, was that Neha was a gold winner in the 10th National Level Open Karate Championship in 2017 and was returning home from her karate class.

The series of actions that followed were humiliating for the police officer but satisfying to women all over.
The police officer boarded the auto without invitation, started asking for her phone number. When refused, he said he only wanted to develop a “friendship” with her. Neha was furious.

She thrashed the officer twice and pushed him to the side, leaving him no room to escape. The auto driver immediately directed the vehicle to the nearest women’s police station.

Neha’s father, a mason in Haryana, came rushing after being informed of the incident. Interestingly, the Women Station House Officer tried to mediate the incident.

“To my surprise, the woman SHO, inspector Sunita Devi asked me not to escalate the matter and offered to humiliate the cop for sexually harassing me in uniform,” said Suresh Jangra, Neha’s father, to the TOI.

However, the FIR was filed, and the matter was finally resolved on Friday 6th April afternoon when a case under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the constable. He was suspended and charged with sexual harassment.

Neha’s action will encourage women to take up self-defence and be alert in times of danger. Also a special mention to her father who supported her in the sport. Good going, Neha!
