Punjabi singer –turned-actor, Diljit Dosanjh, who won Film Fare Award for the Best Debut for his film Udta Punjab (2016) and Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri (2017) had made him a bankable star. The Punjabi singer has made his mark in the Bollywood industry and now winning hearts of people by performing in the films.
After his acclaimed acting in Udta Punjab and Phillauri, the singer-turned-actor has been signed by the actress Chitarangda Singh to play the key role of Sandeep Singh, India’s former hockey captain and the ace player.
Sandeep Singh played as a full back and was a penalty corner specialist in the Indian National Hockey Team. Sandeep’s eventful life with its twist and turns is ripe for a telling on the big screen. According to a report, Chitrangda, who has been trying to become an independent film producer for some time now, has got the rights to Sandeep’s story almost three years ago. But the hunt for the right actor put the dream to a halt. Sandeep is a big fan of Ranbir Kapoor and wanted to essay him in his biopic but the thing didn’t work out.
Now Shaad Ali (Director of Satthiya, Bunty Aur Babli and Ok Jannu ) will be directing the film this year and Chitrangda has tied up with Sony TV’s Sneha Rajani That the Idea of the film has shaped up and progress was made and the creators head unanimously agreed that Dosanjh would fit the role.
