With desi girl making big in the Hollywood and following the footsteps of ‘Jungli Billi,’ Deepika Padukone, too, is giving all the right reasons to rejoice as they prove their acting mettle at the International level and place India’s name on the world map. The world international community does recognise the acting prowess of the Indian actors and nominated Deepika Padukone in the teens choice awards, which added another feather in the cap to all the Indians and to Deepika Padukone.
Not only this, the international community had invited the Bollywood biggies like the superstars Big B (Amitabh Bachchan), Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai apart from directors like Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Mrinal Sen and Gautam Gosh are heartily invited to the Oscar Academy class of 2017. Among the 774 people, these Indian celebrities are invited to be a part of this academy.
On the official Oscar site, it was quoted, “We’re proud to invite our newest class to the Academy. The entire motion picture community is what we make of it, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, President of the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences. It’s up to all of us to ensure that new faces and voices are seen and heard, and to take a shot on the next generation the way someone took a shot on each of us” Isaacs added, “This time, it’s a breaking record number, among the 52 countries the new potential faces are coming up. From India, other actors like Irrfan Khan and Salman Khan, Indian costume designer Arjun Bhasin, directors and writers like Anand Patwardhan and Sooni Taraporevala are invited to join the Academy and vote in the Oscars.
The new members are invited are the part of seven branches which includes actors, directors, costume designers, documentary, executive and film directors. Signifying the diversity it was embracing as the Oscar Academy has noted the 39percent increase in women to join the Academy from 2015-2017 and also marked 30 percent rise in people of colour invited.
