Former England captain Michael Vaughan has expressed his disappointment regarding star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s grade in BCCI’s central contracts for 2020-2021.

Michael Vaughan slammed BCCI for keeping Ravindra Jadeja in Grade A Category in the newly released central contract list.

Michael Vaughan called BCCI ‘s decision to not include Jadeja in Grade A+ disgraceful adding that 32 years old was ‘biggest behind Kohli’.

Vaughan took to his official Twitter handle and wrote, “Disgrace … he should be on the biggest behind Virat …”

For the unversed Ravindra Jadeja, a regular in all the three formats of the game was kept in Grade A alongside Indian Test Format Players including Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ravindra Jadeja has been handed a Grade A contract which has a retainer of INR 5 crore. His non-inclusion in the A+ category, which is for the players who play all three formats comes as a surprise as he is a regular member of India’s all three sides.

However, the only reason which seems plausible for BCCI’s decision to exclude Ravindra Jadeja from the highest category is that the lack of fame he has had in the period of contract. the contract is for the term from October 2020 to September 2021 and the left-hander has only played few cricket matches in the past five months for India as he got injured during the Test Series in Australia and missed all the matches at home against England.

Not only Vaughan, even the former chief selector MSK Prasad remained perplexed seeing Jadeja in the Grade A category. “Jadeja is a genuine A+ candidate. Those who play all formats and have good ICC rankings are included in the list. I cannot see any reason why he was not considered for A + Grade,” Prasad.

Currently Jadeja had played a crucial role in Chennai Super Kings 2nd match of the Season against Punjab Kings on Friday. He gave away 19 runs in his 4 overs and while fielding, he ran out KL Rahul and took a stunning catch off Deepak Chahar’s bowling to dismiss a dangerous Chris Gayle.
