At the age of 11, he started writing prose and verse in Urdu and Persian. He wrote in romantic style in both Persian and Urdu and it is known as Ghazal. He received great honor during his lifetime. Mughal ruler Bahadur Shah Zafar gave him two great titles. They made them a special part of their court. Not only this, the King appointed Ghalib as his teacher for his elder son. Due to good knowledge & great command over litrature, Ghalib was also a historian of the Mughal court.
