Mumbai ravaged by rain: Roads-railway tracks submerged in water, low lying areas filled with water

The rain that started in Mumbai from late Tuesday evening till Wednesday morning continues. Due to which the lower areas of the city have been submerged. Railway tracks have been submerged in water at many stations of Central and Western Railway. Even today, in view of the possibility of heavy rains, the local train service has been stopped at present. Mumbai’s Sion railway station is flooded. Vehicles have been stuck in the streets since midnight in many places.

The police, with the help of the local people, evacuated the stranded drivers to the safe place. Best service has also been stopped in areas where water is full. Due to the waterlogging, the Mumbai-Bhubaneswar special train has been rescheduled at 10 pm today. Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Special, Howrah-Mumbai Special, Hyderabad-Mumbai Special Train at Thane Railway Station has been canceled.

These areas were the most affected:

Roads are submerged in various areas like Goregaon, Sion, Chembur, Kurla, King Circle, Andheri East, Santacruz. All government offices have been closed today except for essential services in Mumbai. The BMC has asked people to stay in homes in view of the possibility of heavy rains.

Local train service was also affected:

Local train service running between CSMT-Thane and CSMT-Vasai is being rescheduled due to waterlogging at Sion-Kurla, Limabhatti-Kurla, and Masjid Bandar stations. In many places, trains have either been stopped or are running late by 15-20 minutes.
