First women to enter Sabarimala Temple gets beaten up by her Mother-in-Law

FIRST WOMAN TO ENTER SABARIMALA GETS BEATEN UP BY HER MOTHER-IN-LAW

First woman Kanakadurga who entered the Sabarimala temple along with Bindu Ammini made history by entering Sabarimala on January 2. Kanakadurga, who returned home on Tuesday after two weeks was beaten up by her mother-in-law.

42-year-old who suffered head and ear injuries has been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. However, her mother-in-law claims that she was the one who was attacked by Kanakadurga.

She went to husband’s place at Angadipuram in Malappuram on Tuesday morning. “She reached home by 7 am along with some activists, her husband and children were not present at that time. Her mother-in-law asked her to wait outside but she entered the house which resulted in a clash”, said a police official.

According to her statement, it says that her mother-in-law hit her with a wooden plank and the police officials who were on duty outside her house, took her to hospital. Sumathiyamma, her mother-in-law also got a treatment in Taluk Hospital.

Kanakadurga’s brother Bharathbhushan said, “it’s not like Sumathiyamma attacked her, both Kanakadurga and Sumathiyamma were injured in the fight”. The police officials have adviced her to stay in hospital for two more days.
