Lata Mangeshkar is born on 28th September 1929 to a Marathi musician and a Gujarati mother Shevanti in Indore. However, where there is a will, there is a way. Lata first got an opportunity to sing in some Marathi films and then gradually started getting opportunities in Hindi films as well. Although Lata’s talent was first recognized by composer Ghulam Haider, she was composed by Lata Mangeshkar for the film Mahal with the song ‘Aaye Aayega’, directed by composer Khemchandra Prakash.
Lata was nominated as a member of Rajya Sabha in the year 1999 itself. However, when he was criticized for his absence in the House, he cited his weak health as the reason.
