Delhi Pollution Control Board seals 21 restaurants in HKV

Here flashes a bad news for all Delhiites on Sat night as the Pollution Control Board has sealed 21 bars and restaurants in the heart of the city, Hauz Khas Village.

The inspection of restaurants and eating houses of Hauz Khas village was carried out by a group of Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) representatives sealing those units, who operated without having a valid consent to establish and consent to operate under and violated U/S 31(A) of the AIR (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981 and U/S 33 (A) of the water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 as amended to date.

The enclosed reasons behind the sealing of restaurants read: Units failed to install Oil and Grease Trap cum Settling tank, channelized system not provided in the kitchen and few others.

The list of 21 bars and restaurants include- Welcome Point, Food Factory by Lalit, The Big Burp Theoi, Bombay Velvet, Ali Baba Caves, Wom Momo, Village Balcony, The Frat House, Levels HKV, Reloaded/Poison, Capsule by Pink Room, Chaayos Restaurant, Play at the Rate 30, New York Slice, ELF Café Lounge, Bull Doga, Darjeeling Kitchen, Café High 5H and Wai Wai City.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate ensured the effective closure of those units which failed to submit any reply to the ‘Show Cause Notices’ within the stipulated time.

No doubt this weekend thousands of hearts will stop beating because of this unplanned closure.
