Surajpur Wetland Nature and Bird Festival: A Symphony of Biodiversity, Conservation, and Cultural Celebration

Surajpur Wetland, a haven for biodiversity and a crucial ecological hotspot, is set to host the much-anticipated Nature and Bird Festival. This immersive celebration of nature, scheduled to take place from 27th Jan to 2nd Feb, promises to be a delightful experience for nature enthusiasts, birdwatchers, and families alike.

Forest department officials told media that this while event is taking place in association with SheWings foundation.

We’re working tirelessly to make our forest a destination for masses to spend their vacation and explore the beauty of wildlife in a best way possible. We’re organizing this Nature and Bird festival at Surajpur Wetland to increase the participation of all ages towards our nature. We would be taking the feedbacks from everyone to improve our services. We aim to make Surajpur wetland the best tourist destination of NCR, Krishna Pal Malik, Minister of Environment & Forest Minister of Zoological Garden & Climate Change said during the press conference.

Instead of going to malls, movie theatre, and Kidzania we should promote our nature and take our family members to forest bird sanctuaries and wetlands. The 31st January Nature and Bird festival is going to be a global hit as famous people from film industry, bureaucracy, and wildlife are joining the nature and bird festival, Madan Mohit Bhardwaj, Founder SheWings said during the press conference.

Surajpur Wetland, located in the heart of Greater Noida, is a treasure trove of natural beauty, teeming with diverse flora and fauna. The Nature and Bird Festival aims to showcase and celebrate this rich biodiversity while promoting environmental awareness and conservation efforts.

Designated as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance, Surajpur Wetland is a crucial habitat for both resident and migratory bird species, making it a hotspot for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. The scenic backdrop of Surajpur, an urban wetland nestled in the Yamuna River basin in Gautam Buddha Nagar, serves as a vital breeding ground for waterfowl like Spot-billed Duck, Lesser-whistling Duck, Cotton Pygmy Goose, and Comb Duck. With the unwavering support of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority and in collaboration with WWF-India, the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department has diligently pursued a conservation project for Surajpur since 2010.
