Punjab, Haryana Election Results Live Updates: Mixed Trends Emerge; BJP and INDIA Bloc in Tight Contest in Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana

As the tallying of ballots for the Lok Sabha elections commences today, initial polling trends from NDTV indicate varied leads across different regions. In Punjab, where there are 13 seats up for grabs, the BJP is leading in 4 seats while the INDIA bloc is ahead in 6 seats. In Chandigarh, which has 11 seats, the BJP is leading with 4 seats. In Haryana, out of 10 seats, the BJP is leading in 4 seats and the INDIA bloc in 6 seats. Notably, Congress candidate Charanjit Singh Channi is leading by approximately 16,000 votes in Jalandhar.

The exit polls have predicted strongholds for the BJP in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, indicating these states will continue to be BJP bastions. Punjab, however, seems likely to follow its historical trend of favoring the party that typically ends up in the opposition benches.

Voter turnout varied across the regions: Punjab recorded a turnout of 62.80%, Himachal Pradesh saw a solid 71%, Chandigarh had 40.14%, and Haryana’s final average turnout was 64.8%. In Uttarakhand, three out of five seats saw a decrease in voter turnout compared to 2019.

In the Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seat in Punjab, AAP candidate Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal is currently leading by around 1,500 votes. Congress candidate Yamini Gomar is in second place, and BJP candidate Anita Som Prakash is in third.
