Young age toddler have developed immunity to fight COVID-19 – ICMR Report
Amidst the fears of the arrival of the third wave or not, the antibodies produced automatically in the children have made them a protective shield against the corona. In a sero survey conducted by the state government on children between the ages of five and 18, it was revealed that in about 50 to 60 percent of the children, antibodies have been made against the corona on their own. The government has not yet made this report public. The samples collected for sero survey were examined at King George’s Medical University.
Dr. Piyali Bhattacharya, Pediatrician, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences said that in the survey of Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), it has come to the fore that about two-thirds of the people of the country have antibodies due to herd immunity. This also includes children. At the same time, the vaccine for children is also expected by September.
The vaccination campaign is also going on in full swing. Thus, the possibility of a third wave remains very low. He said that there have been cases of Delta Plus in many states of the country. Even if its range increases, the third wave will not be as effective. It is good that schools are being opened phase wise.
According to experts, the figures are relieved: Dr. Amita Jain, Head of the Department of Microbiology in KGMU, said that an investigation has been conducted for the production of antibodies in children. Its figures have been sent to the government. According to sources, antibodies against corona have been found in 60 percent of the children of Lucknow and Kanpur, while in other districts of UP it is less than 50 percent. According to experts, these figures are quite a relief. Even if the third wave comes from this, then its severity will be less.
