“Wreckage of Iran President’s Helicopter Crash Site Unveiled in New Visuals”
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi tragically died when his helicopter crashed while navigating over the mountainous region of East Azerbaijan province amid heavy fog, according to Iran news media.
A senior Iranian official confirmed to Reuters that “President Raisi, the foreign minister, and all the passengers in the helicopter were killed in the crash.”
The crash site, revealed by state media nearly 16 hours after the incident, displayed the wreckage strewn across a mountain peak. Although the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, such accidents are relatively common in Iran due to its challenging terrain and weather conditions.
As the nation mourned, with citizens taking to the streets and offering prayers for their deceased president, rescue teams faced severe fog and icy conditions in their effort to reach the crash site.
Pirhossein Kolivand, head of Iran’s Red Crescent, reported to state TV that no survivors were found among the helicopter’s passengers.
Prior to the crash, state media had broadcasted an image of President Raisi aboard the helicopter in the Jolfa region of East Azerbaijan province, marking his final public appearance.
The recovery team worked tirelessly through the treacherous landscape to locate the wreckage and confirm the unfortunate fatalities.
