“West Bengal is yet to receive Rs 50,000 crores from the Central Government”: CM Mamta Banerjee
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee on Thursday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to address the issue of reduction in the fund for states by the Central Government. The Chief Minister stated in her letter that the central government has yet to clear the outstanding amount of Rs 50,000 crores.
CM Banerjee wrote in her letter,” I write to you with deep concern regarding the steady reduction of Central funds to our state and also an inordinate delay in the release of funds due to us from the Government of India.”
She also stated that the state government is facing “major difficulties” due to the reduction in the funds.
“You will appreciate that this extraordinary situation is leading to major difficulties in meeting our obligation for the welfare of the common people of West Bengal”, added Banerjee.
Through this Cm also stated that in total Center has to pay of about Rs 50,000 crores to the West Bengal Government.
“I would, therefore, urge upon you to kindly take all the necessary action to address the issues mentioned above, so that the state government can usher in more and more development works for the people of the state,” CM Mamata Banerjee stated.
