Siddharth was born in Mumbai on August 2, 1974. Siddharth’s mother Salome Roy Kapur, is a noted dancer, dance instructor, stage choreographer, and a former Miss India.
His paternal grandfather Raghupat Roy Kapur was a film producer and his maternal grandparents Sam and Ruby Aaron, were the earliest accredited teachers of Ballroom and Latin American dancing in India, with degrees from the Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing in London.
Siddharth is married to Bollywood actress Vidya Balan and has two brothers Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kunaal Roy Kapoor. His brothers are also well-established actors and enjoy huge popularity among the audience.
In 2006, Siddharth Roy Kapur was one of the founding members of UTV Spotboy, a studio that energized Hindi cinema by backing low-budget but high-quality content films such as Aamir, Udaan, Paan Singh Tomar, and Shahid. Later UTV was acquired by Disney India. Twelve years later, Roy Kapur releases another challenging project, Pihu, this time around under his own eponymous banner (Roy Kapoor Films), which he set up in 2017. The drama thriller follows a day in the life of a two-year-old girl trapped in an apartment with her dead mother.
