She Wings organise “Run For Women Power” campaign with Delhi Government on eve of International Women’s Day

March 6, 2022 (New Delhi) : On Sunday MOrning, A 10-kilometer marathon was held at the ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium’ as a part of the Delhi government’s celebrations for the upcoming International Women’s Day.The theme of this year event was “gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. Also WCD Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi , Manish Sisodia were present in the event.

The event was organised by the Department of Women and Child Development. She Wings Foundation along with Delhi Government and others played a crucial role in organising the event. She Wings educate women and men on menstrual health and hygiene.

The Women’s Day Marathon on Sunday, along with 700 participants, included a 10-km marathon, a 5-km run and a 1-km run flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Deputy CM while addressing the event said that,”Mindset needs to changed. Women are the foundation of development.” He further added in Hindi, “Badlenge Soch, Badlenge Vichar; Mahila Hai Vikas Ka Aadhar.” Also WCD Minister expressed their thoughts, “Aao Mahila Aao, Barabari Ka Saath Nibhao”. She Wings Foundation also got “Award of Appreciation” for their major contribution in awaring, educating and encouraging women regarding “menstrual hygiene”.

Also, “She Wings” Correspondent asked ‘young girls’ about the major issues they are facing today. In response, one of the girl said that,” We should normalise women going outside with liberty. We can also run freely like men and women should not pretend that they don’t go outside.” Also when asked about “Gender Bias”, another girl replied, “It is in our everyday life and women today internalise it as they are limited to play certain roles but we should be positive and things are changing in a positive way.” International Women’s Day is observed on March 8. The victories of women entrepreneurs from “marginalised communities” were highlighted at the event.
