Patanjali to launch ‘Paridhan’ line of accessories by 2018
Ayurveda brand Patanjali is looking to enter the apparel sector in a large way in the coming year.
Patanjali looks to enter the apparel by launching its brand in 12 to 14 different categories, reports CNBC-TV 18’s Priya Sheth. This would include caps, shoes, clothes, towels, bedsheets, and other accessories. Its line of accessories would be named “Paridhan”
It looks to manufacture products under a third-party agreement so as to ensure the fastest rates in production. Brands such as Titan, Bata and Khadim would be its main competitors.
According to sources, Patanjali hopes to enter a tie-up with established brands having large capacities such as Raymond, Arvind Shahi exports and the like. CNBC TV 18 got in touch Raymond, which stated that they are not in manufacturing talks with Patanjali, whereas Arvind stated that they do not comment on market speculation.
Patanjali hopes to launch eight flagship stores mainly in tier I cities in 2018 and more than 10 stores in tier II cities. It expects to launch 500 stores in the coming two years.
