Pakistan PM targets India at UN over “systematic human rights violations in Kashmir”
Launching fresh attack at India, Pakistan has now targeted India over the ongoing Kashmir unrest, while handing over a dossier to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. During a meeting chaired by the newly appointed Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the Nation Security Committee was informed that Abbasi, in a dossier, documented “the systematic human rights violations by India” in Kashmir, during the UN General Assembly.
While an official statement mentioned that the NSC meeting was attended by Pakistan’s Minister for Finance, Minister for Foreign Affairs, all three services’ chiefs and senior civil and military officials, it stated that the Pakistan PM has urged the United Nations to field a special envoy to Kashmir.
“The Committee condemned human rights violation in Kashmir and expressed deep concern over the ceasefire violations across the Line of Control.” Read the official statement.
Delegations from Pakistan further briefed the National Security Committee that the country’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif had documented Pakistan’s perspective on regional and global security challenges before several key countries.
The official statement released after the meeting also stated that the outcomes of the new PM’s first address to the UN General Assembly were shared with the committee. In his first address to the UN General Assembly, Abbasi sought for the UN intervention in the Kashmir issue, warning India that by targeting Pakistan it will evoke a strong and “matching response”.
Furthermore, the National Security Committee was informed that the Pakistan foreign minister met leaders from regional countries like China, Iran and Turkey to share Pakistan’s perspective on the crucial regional and international issue.
“The Committee expressed its unwavering resolve to keep Pakistan’s defence impregnable against all forms of external aggression,” mentioned the statement.
