Old Monk becomes grandfather: Birth of new flavours
The iconic vatted Indian dark rum, Old Monk had associated itself to a diversity of flavours, i.e. it has inaugurated a collection, called “The Connoisseur Collection”(worth-rupees 130). Connoisseur means an expert judge in the matter of taste.
The amazing flavours, that are introduced to the audience by the Old Monk are Old Monk Orange Rum, Old Monk Lemon Rum, Old Monk Apple Rum, Old Monk White Rum, Old Monk Cola, Old Monk Cranberry and Old Monk Mojito.
Here is the brief of stores where you can find these amazing flavoured Old Monk rums –
The respective collection is connected to low alcohol content, as compared to the original aesthetic of Old Monk. The cities in which the respective collection is in existence, are Pune, Karnataka, and Mumbai. As far as the reactions of the people are concerned, some are appreciating the new deal, while others are criticizing the “new invent”, as they attach their emotional value to the original Old Monk.
Old Monk has a commendable vibe about its essence, which is completely unmatchable with any other brand. Old Monk Rum was launched in 1954. It is blended and aged for a minimum of 7 years. It is a dark rum with a distinct vanilla flavour, with an alcohol content of 42.8%. It is produced in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and was previously available in all parts of India. There is no advertising, its popularity depends on word of mouth and loyalty of customers.
However, in 2013 Old Monk lost its rank as the largest selling dark rum to McDowell’s No.1 Celebration Rum. Old Monk has been the biggest Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) brand for many years. Old Monk was ranked 5th among Indian spirits brands at the Impact International’s 2008 list of “Top 100 Brands At Retail Value” with a retail value of US$240 million. At last, the fact is that this launch is a “rejoice-moment”, for the ones, who want to remain sober, even after drinking 3-4 bottles of rum.
