In a surprising turn of events, Nitish Kumar, who was rallying the opposition against the BJP, took oath as Bihar Chief Minister on Sunday, forming a new alliance with the BJP. He parted ways with his former partner, the RJD, and resigned as Chief Minister earlier in the day.

After meeting the governor, Kumar stated, “I have resigned from the post of chief minister today. The new Grand Alliance that we created (in August 2022) is not in good condition. The situation is not looking good.”

The BJP’s Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha have been appointed as Kumar’s new deputies.
