Netizens bombarded social media as Zomato delivery boy gets arrested for allegedly assaulting Bengaluru-based female customer.

A Bengaluru-based content creator on Wednesday has alleged that she was assaulted by a Zomato executive after an altercation broke out between the two over a delayed food delivery order.

Hitesha Chandranee who is a social media influencer alleged that the incident happened on Tuesday following an argument over a delay in delivery.

She claims that the delivery person barged into her house, verbally abused, and assaulted her resulting in a fracture to her nasal bone.

A make artist by profession, the woman said that she had placed an order at 3:30 pm on March 9 and it was supposed to be delivered by 4:30 pm but she did not receive it on time.

She said that then she reached out to Zomato’s customer service support and asked them to either waive off the charges for the order or cancel the order.

As she was talking to customer service, the delivery person arrived, she took the order but when she told him to wait she claims he started abusing her.

Hitesha said “I asked him to take back the order. But he refused and started screaming at me saying ‘I am a slave or what? You are asking me to wait here’. So it was threatening for me and I tried to shut my door but he pushed the door, picked my order from the table, punched me on my face and ran away,”

Acting on her complaint, Zomato assured the woman that they will fully cooperate in the police investigation and assist the medical care required.

Hitesha then registered a complaint with Bengaluru’s Electronic Police Station, upon which the police officers. immediately took the delivery boy into their custody.

According to the delivery boy, he wanted to hand over the food and get on with another delivery. But then the woman demanded a refund which was beyond his capacity. As she refused to accept the order, there was a verbal altercation between them.

Then she even tried to hit him with her sandals and he pushed her in self-defense which resulted in the injury.

This incident made social media abuzz with mixed reactions of Netizens supporting Hitesha and delivery boy respectively.

Meanwhile, Zomato has delisted the delivery executive from the platform till the investigation goes on.
