Name fellows and birthday twins with distinctive talents turn 47 today

On 30 July, two legends were born Sonu Nigam and Sonu Sood. Both of them made India proud. Sonu Nigam has given his melodies voice to the nation, in his 30 years long career he gave India number of gems and made people laugh, dance and cry over the years. Sonu Sood who is a wonderful actor, producer, and director proves to be a humanitarian in 2020. He had done a lot for the needy people whether it’s giving poor people shelter and food or giving migrants travel facilities to reach their hometown. Sonu Sood celebrates his 47th birthday on July 30. The actor who hails from Punjab is known for his works in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Punjabi language films. Sonu predominantly plays the role of a villain or antagonist in films.

Sonu Sood received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu for his work in Arundhati in 2009. In 2010, he garnered the IIFA Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for Dabangg (2010). Sonu has also proved his mettle as an actor by starring in films of varied genres like Yuva (2004), Athadu (2005), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Dookudu (2011), Shootout at Wadala (2013), Happy New Year (2014), Kung Fu Yoga (2017) and Simmba (2018).
Sonu also runs a production house which is named after his father, Shakti Sagar Productions. In the year 2020, Sonu showed his humanitarian side by helping thousands of stranded migrants reach their homes during the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On the occasion of Sonu Sood’s birthday, let’s look at a few lesser-known facts about the actor:

— Sonu’s father Shakti Sagar Sood had a cloth showroom in Moga called Bombay Cloth House and his mother Saroj Sood was a professor. Sonu’s elder sister, Monika is a scientist.

— Sonu went to study engineering in electronics from Yeshwantro Chavan College of Engineering in Nagpur.

— Post his graduation, Sonu pursued a career in modeling and went through tough struggling days in the initial years in Mumbai. He lived in a flat with 5-6 people at the time.

— He faced difficulties in bagging projects being an outsider. However, he made a decent debut in Bollywood in 2001 with the film Shaheed-e-Azam where he characterized the role of Bhagat Singh.

— Sonu got married to Sonali at the young age of 23. The couple has two sons Ayanna Sood and Eshan Sood.

— Sonu made his Chinese debut with the film Xuanzang, 2016.

— He along with Indian actresses Disha Patani and Amyra Dastur featured in Jackie Chan’s film Kung Fu Yoga in 2017.

He started his career at the age of 4 when he joined his father on stage to sing Mohammad Rafi’s song kya Hua tera vada and started his career at the age of 18 in Bollywood. His first song to be released was ‘O Aasman Wale’ from the movie ‘Aaja meri Jaan’ in 1992.
He was ranked number 1 artist on the US billboard uncharted charts twice in September and October 2013.
He singer-actor once ruled the hearts of millions in the late ’90s not only with his beautiful voice but also with his charismatic personality. Sonu Nigam was born on July 30, 1973, in Haryana’s Faridabad. Inspired by his parents, he took up singing as his career and became a household name.
After doing numerous stage shows, Sonu came to Mumbai and launched his first album ‘Rafi Ki Yaadein’ at the age of just 19 years.
He tasted failure at the early stage in his career but it was the musical show ‘Sa Re Ga Pa’, which brought him into the limelight he was waiting for.

In the year 1995, Gulshan Kumar gave an opportunity to Sonu to lend his voice for Bewafa Sanam’s ‘Acha Sila Diya Tune’ which made him a household name in India.

Sonu Nigam is married to actress Madhurima, who is 15 years younger than him. The couple is blessed with a boy who is quite popular on social media.
Sonu Nigam has won two Filmfare Awards for Saathiya (2002) and Kal Ho Na Ho (2003) for the Best Singer (Male) category. The singer also forayed into acting and played pivotal roles in Jaani Dushman, Love in Nepal, and Kaash Aap Humare Hote.
However, the movie failed to impress the audience and failed miserably at the box-office. Songs like Deewana Tera, Bijuria, and Tera Milna made him the youth singing icon. His recent songs, including Abhi Mujhme Kahin, Has Mat Pagli and Sapna Jahan still cast a spell among the music lovers.
