MP: Speeding Trolley Hits Seven Vehicles, Claims One Life in Khandwa

In Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, a tragic incident unfolded when a speeding trolley, laden with sand, lost control while descending from the Agni River bridge in Ashapuri on the Khandwa-Harsud road. The out-of-control vehicle initially collided with a motorcycle, critically injuring its rider, before careening into six other vehicles and ultimately overturning. The collision resulted in the death of an unidentified individual and inflicted severe injuries upon 45-year-old Akila B from Pratappura. Numerous others sustained injuries during the chaotic series of crashes, prompting their immediate transport to hospitals in Harsud and Khandwa for urgent medical care.

Eyewitnesses recounted a scene of mayhem as the trolley, traveling from Harda to Khandwa, even scattered eggs onto the road after striking a parked bus. The driver fled the scene immediately following the accident, further aggravating local sentiments. Raju Patil, the Ashapuri Chowki in-charge, commended bystanders for their swift intervention, preventing the trolley from causing further damage by narrowly avoiding nearby residential structures.

Residents expressed frustration over the frequent movement of sand dumpers and trolleys along this route, which often leads to accidents. They also highlighted encroachments by hotels and shopkeepers near the Ashapuri bus stand, contributing to congestion and hazards on the road. The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who are demanding stricter regulations and enforcement to prevent similar tragedies in the future. There are also calls for accountability from influential individuals who own these vehicles and evade legal repercussions, emphasizing the urgent need for improved safety measures on the Khandwa-Harsud road.
