Mobile phones in the modern world have become such an indispensable part of our lives that it has become impossible to live without. Almost all of us amongst us would not imagine leaving without their mobile phones in their hands. The marketing, packaging and the advertising of mobile phones are greatly responsible for spreading the boom of mobile phones in our lives and it looks that life without a mobile phone would be a complete mess. So, the importance of mobile phones can be understood. Where it has become a gaming and social media centre, a music player, and the Internet packed device.

The evolution from trunk to touch in India happened only over a period of 20 years.
In India telephones first came in the form of rotary phones. The phones consisted of a dial and a receiver. The rotary dial consisted of all the digits arranged in a circular finger wheel. To dial each digit, one had to rotate the dial all the way to the end.
THE ASSURED ‘PUSH’
Initially, not every house had a phone. When phones were becoming more common in every home, now you don’t have to maintain good relations with your neighbours because they were the only one who owned ‘that’ important phone. Things were changing; STD booths were fast becoming the new shop in every market.
CORDLESS
Cordless phones had their own advantages — privacy at homes, and endless talking time with school crushes. One didn’t have to take up all conversations in front of Chacha, Chachi, mama, mama and that distant cousin from another city. You could confidentially take the phone to your room, and talk to that new girl in class overnight!
The world’s first commercial GSM call was made on July 1, 1991, in Helsinki, over a Nokia-supplied network, by then-Prime Minister of Finland Harri Holkeri, using a prototype Nokia GSM phone. In 1992, the first GSM phone, the Nokia 1011, was launched.
And soon enough, all of India was hooked to its mobile games.
Mobiles also gave India a new pick up line – “what is the mobile number, karoon kya dial number”! one of the most popular songs from the movie Haseena Maan Jaaegi.
But what really brought a drastic change in the mobile revolution was smartphones. Touch screens and a million apps with a new smartphone hitting the market every day, hitting Indians’ heads with numerous choices.
After only about a decade, smartphone technology is so successful that businesses and their employees have trouble imagining a day without them. Besides making phone calls, nearly all smartphones today can natively provide directions through GPS, take pictures, play music and keep track of appointments and contacts. Through the installation of apps, the list of possible smartphone user had multiplied by tens of thousands and the list longer with each passing day.
