A high drama unfolded in Bihar Politics on Tuesday over the Bihar Special armed Police Bill passed by the Nitish Kumar led government, the protest by the opposition party leaders against the bill and the rising inflation and unemployment in the state.

An FIR was also lodged against Rashtriya Janta Dal leaders Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav and several other opposition party leaders after workers of the party clashed with police while staging a protest against the Bihar Government on Tuesday.

RJD workers under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap on Tuesday planned to gherao the Bihar Assembly to protest against Nitish Kumar Government over unemployment, inflation, and law and order situation in the state.

However they were stopped by the police near Dark Bungalow crossing in Patna. Following this, the clash erupted between the police and RJD workers where several people were injured as police used water cannons to disperse the crowd while RJD workers pelted stones in retaliation.

Police then finally lathi-charged the protesting RJD workers and accused Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav of attacking police on duty and holding protests despite being denied permission for the same.

An FIR was also registered against them for damaging public property.

On the other hand, The Special Armed Police Bill was passed in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Protesting against the bill the opposition leaders began with tearing down the copy of the bill and created ruckus in the Assembly.

Both opposition and government started fighting a face-to-face battle over the bill. While the opposition did not wanted to see the implementation of the Bihar Special Armed Police Bill 2021 , the government feels that the enactment of this bill will help to protect the important establishments.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav slammed the Nitish Kumar-led government, claiming that this law means that search will be conducted without a warrant and “any policemen can arrest if he believes something is wrong”

RJD MLA Satish Kumar was also carried on a stretcher from the Bihar Assembly after he was allegedly manhandled by ‘police and local goons’ inside the Assembly during a protest against the Bill.

Following this, Tejashwi Yadav alleged that Opposition MLAs wanted to speak against the Bill but they were assaulted.

“We wanted to speak but we were thrashed. This law means that search will be conducted without a warrant and ‘any policemen can arrest if they believe something is wrong. There is no use of courts and magistrates,” he said.

The bill was nonetheless passed by the Bihar Assembly last in the evening well past the stipulated time amid a walkout by the Opposition MLAs who squatted outside the building and raised the slogan, slighted by how they were ousted from the hall by the men in uniform.

The police later arrested Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav and his elder brother Tei Pratap following the heavy stone-pelting by party workers.
