France’s World Cup Winning star Paul Pogba has reportedly quit the national football team over President Emmanuel Macron’s ‘ Islamist Terrorism’ statement, reports said on Monday.
The Manchester United Star has allegedly decided to quit on Friday itself following President Macron’s remarks that ‘Islam was the source of International terrorism’.
President Emmanuel Macron’s comments came against the backdrop of the beheading of Samuel Paty – a school teacher who was killed for showing allegedly communal cartoons to school children.
President Emmanuel Macron labeled the murder of Samuel Paty as an ‘Islamist terror attack’ and that the Islam terror wanted the country’s future.
The statements ignited the fire and the 27-Year-Old World Cup Winning Footballer decided to quit the national side.Reports also claim that the French Government’s decision to honor the teacher Samuel Paty resented Pogba and are said to be the reason behind the move.
However Neither Pogba nor the French Football Association has confirmed the star’s exit so far. Paul Pogba who started his career in 2013 in France, played a central role in France’s 2018 World Cup Triumph in Russia even scoring in the final against Croatia.
