The central government ordered 4 thousand army canteens of the country not to import foreign goods. It also includes expensive foreign liquor. The Army Canteen is one of the largest retail chains in the country. These are sold for about 200 crore rupees every year.

On October 19, the defense ministry issued an order banning the import of foreign goods. It said – Direct import could not be done. According to the order, this was discussed with the Army, Airforce, and Navy between May and July. This is a decision taken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to promote domestic products. A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense refused to say anything about this.

The order currently does not provide information about goods whose products will be banned. However, sources say that it contains foreign liquor. About 7% of the products sold in the canteen are imported. These include items imported from China such as diapers, vacuum cleaners, handbags and laptops.
