Glamour, Power, Or Paisa: Why Are Bureaucrats in UP Joining Politics?

As soon as the code of conduct is imposed in the assembly elections. Many bureaucrats express their interest to leave their Jobs to enter politics. Can you see the Political Glamour? Imagine the favors they must have provided to their parties. That they are ready to terminate their jobs, that they have been doing for the whole of their life.

Here are some bureaucrats who have already tendered their resignations.

  1. Asim Arun

Asim Arun IPS of ADG rank is a 1994 batch IPS officer. He served as Superintendent of Police and Deputy Inspector General of Police in Hathras, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Agra, Aligarh, and Gorakhpur. After this, he also took charge in Lucknow ATS. Currently, he was serving as Commissioner Kanpur Police. He was close to Mayavati. He remained on several important posting during Mayavati. But how all of a sudden his love for BJP is in the public domain. He is all set to join the BJP to contest the assembly election in Kanauj.

2. Rajeshwar Singh

Rajeshwar Singh- Senior Officer in the ED

Rajeshwar Singh, a senior officer in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the rank of Joint Director, has made an application with the government seeking premature retirement from the services. A source close to NLC informed that Rajeshwar Singh has expressed his desire to resign from the service because he wanted to join BJP. Currently, he is in the IRS position at Enforcement Directorate (ED). It is indicated that he was likely to join the BJP and contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. He will contest from Ghazibad’s Sahibabaad seat.

The first indication of his resignation and joining politics came from Rajeshwar’s lawyer sister Abha Singh, who is one of her Twitter posts said, “Congratulations to my brother Rajeshwar Singh of the ED for opting for early retirement to serve the country. The nation needs you.”

In another tweet, she said, “Rajeshwar Singh is a very intelligent and dedicated officer. In fact, I would say he is very courageous to walk out of a powerful organization like the ED while he still had 12 years of service left.”

Sources in the BJP said there were chances that he might join the party in Uttar Pradesh and also contest the Assembly polls. But his application for resignation is yet to be accepted, they added.

3. Abhishek Singh

IAS and Actor Abhishek Singh’s father, A former IPS officer is all set to contest from Jaunpur on BJP ticket. Sources in BJP are more interested in Giving tickets to Abhishek who is currently posted in Delhi Government as Collector.
