Fake followers, or bots as they are popularly known, are the Twitter accounts that do not have a person behind them and are operated for a pre-set agenda. They are being controlled in social media war rooms and are operated on a mass level.

But here is a little trivia, out of the 31 million followers that he has, more than 13 million are fake, according to Twitter audit.
But the fake following does not stop at PM Modi – the top ten most followed Indians have more than a couple of bots following them.
Amitabh Bachchan, the second Indian with most Twitter followers, has 11 million fake followers out of 27.5 million followers.

2) Amitabh Bachchan: Amitabh Bachchan has around 27.7 Million followers and has 46% of fake followers.
3) Shah Rukh Khan: The King of Bollywood is also not behind in terms of fake following. He has around 25.9 Million followers and has around 47% fake following.
4) Salman Khan: Dabangg Khan of Bollywood is also not behind in the fake following. Salman Khan has 23.7 Million of followers and has around 40% fake following.
5) Aamir Khan: The perfectionist of Bollywood is also not barred from the wrath of the fake following. Aamir Khan has 21.3 Million of followers and has 32% fake following.
