Former Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh accuses Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of asking police officers to collect Rs 100 crores per month for him.

In a politically explosive twist to the Antilia Bomb Scare case, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has accused Maharashtra Home Minister of extortion.

Param Bir Singh sends a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in which he claims that Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had directed suspended API Sachin Waze to collect Rs 100 crore every month for him from bars restaurant, and other establishments.

In a letter to Chief Minister titled ‘untruthful statements by the Honourable Home Minister, Maharashtra,” Mr. Param Bir Singh said that the minister had appointed several of his officers including Sachin Vaze for running an extortion racket.

For the unversed three days before Param Bir Singh was been transferred owing to some ‘unpardonable’ lapses in ensuring security outside Mukesh Ambani’s house.

However, Denying the accusations in a statement, the Home Minister wrote,” Parambir Singh allegations on me are baseless and false. He has made these allegations as a pet of conspiracy to save himself and to malign the image of Maha Vikas Aghadi and me’

“I’m filing a defamation case against him,” he said, asking why Mr. Singh had been sitting on the allegations despite knowing of them as early as January.

Meanwhile, Reacting to the claims, Former CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has demanded the Home Minister’s resignation and called for an impartial probe to be conducted.

A meeting is likely to be held among the ruling parties in view of the developments. NCP chief Sharad Pawar who is in Agra is likely to come back to Mumbai and hold a closed-door meeting.

NDA ministers had already approached Home Minister Amit Shah for imposing president role in Maharashtra and will hold state-wide protest in Maharashtra on Sunday seeking immediate suspension of Anil Deshmukh.
