Explosion in London underground metro a terrorist attack: Police
An explosion has been reported in the London underground, left many passengers injured. Police described the attack as a ‘terrorist incident’. At least 18 injured passengers have been admitted to different hospitals in the mega city.
The explosion took place at a busy Parsons green station in London on Friday. The incident occurred during rush hour on a District line Tube train as it pulled into the station. Some passengers reportedly were injured and suffered crush injuries in the rush to escape.
London police confirmed the tube explosions a terrorist attack. According to a metro reporter a white container exploded on the train which resulted in passengers facial burns. She also mentioned that the passengers were badly burned and their hairs were coming off.
The fellow passengers expressed on twitter the calamity out there in metro station by posting pictures and videos of the incident.
The police tweeted about the incident on twitter that, “We are aware of an incident at #ParsonsGreen tube station. Officers are in attendance.”
They further tweeted, “we are aware of the reports on social media and would release facts regarding the incident once they could be sure of their accuracy.”
Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism squad, SO15, arrived at the scene and took lead in the investigation. Downing Street office revealed Prime Minister Theresa May monitoring the rescue operation and was ‘receiving regular updates’ on the situation.
