#BoycottMalabarGold trends as Kareena Kapoor gets massively trolled over new Akshaya Tritiya commercial.

April 24,2022(New Delhi): Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has miffed and offended a certain section of people with her new advertisement for the brand Malabar Gold and Diamonds. The actress donned traditional attire with elaborate jewelry but without a bindi on her forehead in the commercial that was released on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Many users have slammed Kareena for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments by not wearing a bindi.

Several netizens took to Twitter to lash out at the actress and asserted that for a married woman donning a bindi is part of the Hindu tradition. Thus, she has apparently hurt the sentiments of Hindus. #BoycottKareena Kapoor and #BoycottMalabarGold have been trending on the micro-blogging site with users expressing their anger.  Sharing a picture of Kareena from the ad, one irate user tweeted, “Every Hindu woman puts bindi on her forehead as foremost adornment be it festival. But advertisement features Kareena without bindi. This is an insult to Hindu religion.#MalabarGold & Diamonds is disregarding Hindu religious traditions.‼ #No_Bindi_No_Business #Boycott_MalabarGold.”

Another wrote, “#NoBindiNoBusiness #malabargold #AkshayaTritiya #Hindu Kareena if forget hindu festivals and role of bindi after marriage in hindu dharma then she should avoid such advt to just earn money. Malabar gold if don’t  know about hindu festivals and about bindi then its shameful.”

To note, this is not the first time that a jewelry brand has faced the wrath of people for hurting religious sentiments. Back in 2010, Tanishq withdraw an ad about interfaith marriage after it received massive flak online.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Kareena Kapoor Khan is awaiting the release of her upcoming film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. Directed by Advait Chandan, the movie will reunite Bebo with her ‘3 Idiots’ co-star Aamir Khan. The comedy-drama, which marks South actor Naga Chaitanya’s Hindi film debut, will hit theatres on August 11, 2022.
