Big Decision before Asia Cup, KL Rahul will not play against Pakistan and Nepal

Before leaving for Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup, Indian team head coach Rahul Dravid has given an update on the fitness of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. The head coach on Tuesday (August 29) said that he is happy with the fitness of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Both the players have batted well in the training camp. Dravid also informed that Rahul will not play in the opening two matches of the Asia Cup.

After that he is expected to return. India’s opening two matches are against Pakistan on September 2 and Nepal on the 4th. Both the matches will be played in Kandy. This means that Rahul will not play in the group round. If Team India reaches the Super-4, he will take the field.

Rahul Dravid said, “KL Rahul has batted well. He is also doing wicket-keeping. He will be rested for two matches keeping the World Cup in mind. After that he will come back. We are hopeful that he will play for two matches.” Later he will make a full comeback. We are not too worried about it.
