Big Breaking – Supreme Court granted bail to P. Chidambaram in the INX Media money laundering case.
The Supreme Court granted bail to former finance minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday at 10.30 a.m. The decision at Chidambaram’s plea is against the order of Delhi High Court that had dismissed his bail petition in the INX Media case lodged by the Enforcement Directorate.
The Supreme court has directed restain orders on Chidambaram to release any statement regarding this case.
He has been in custody since August 21 when he was first arrested by CBI in the INX Media case later his custody was handed over to ED. He has already spent over 100 days in custody.
On November 15, High Court dismissed his bail plea saying that the allegation against him was serious and he played an’ active and key role’ in the offense. However, during pleading for bail, former minister told Supreme Court that he is not a hardened criminal who should not be allowed to get out of jail and accused ED of intentionally delaying the investigations to ensure that he remained behind the bars.
