In the aftermath of the chaos at Red Fort, the UP police administration on Wednesday forcibly stopped the 40-day long dharna.
It is alleged that the police personnel overthrew hundred of farmers sitting on one side of Delhi-Saharanpur Highway, uprooting the tent and also unleashing lathi-charge.
The police chase the farmers who were sleeping in the dharna with sticks and removed the goods from there, and forcibly ended the protest which has been running since 19 December on the Delhi – Saharanpur Highway.
In Baghpat, the farmer’s protest was started about 40 days ago under the leadership of Khap Chaudhary Surendra Singh. Though Surendra withdrew his support for the dharna initially and the Chaudhari’s of other Khapas took the lead of the indefinite dharna.
However, Khap Chaudhary Surendra Singh returned to the dharna site with several farmers organizations later.
On Republic Day Day Hundreds of farmers from the Baghpat protest site went to the tractor rally and allegedly created chaos.
After the incident on Republic Day, on Wednesday throughout the day, ADM Amit Kumar Singh and ASP Manish Mishra held talks with the farmers to end the protest but the farmers remained adamant on their demands.
As a result Police administrative officers reached the protest with heavy police force at 11o clock and drove out the farmers, and ended the protest.
