BHU’s ‘Har Har Mahadev’ App Blocks Porn On Campus, Plays Bhajan When Someone Searches Adult Content
A neurologist at the Institute of Medical Sciences of Banaras Hindu University (IMS-BHU) and his team have developed an application to block unwanted sites, especially pornographic ones, to do away with the onslaught of trash and misinformation on the internet.
Named ‘Har Har Mahadev’, the application is designed to block pornography, violence and vulgar content circulating on the world wide web.
Once downloaded and registered, the app will play devotional songs whenever the user attempts to open an ‘inappropriate’ site. “We have developed the website blocker and internet filtering services, so one can surf safely without any fear of opening adult or objectionable sites,” said Dr Vijay Nath Mishra of Institute of Medical Sciences- Banaras Hindu University’s neurology department.
The app ‘Har Har Mahadev’ took six months to complete and can block about 3,800 identified sites, he added.
“We will update it further as more and more unwanted sites are cropping up daily,” said Mishra.
Presently, only Hindu devotional songs have been introduced. However, work is on to include devotional songs of other religions,” added Mishra, who has also made movies on cardiac arrest and its management to spread awareness among people.
