Amazing!! 10th Class Students Bags Crores As Funding For Their Start-Up Idea.

Three young students — Chetanya Golechha, Mrigank Gujjar and Utsav Jain of Class X in Jaipur bags a funding of Rs 3crore for their start-up idea of ‘Infusion Beverages.’ The trio participated in the entrepreneurship fest of their school in April 2016, which changed its fortunes. These students of Neerja Modi School in Jaipur have covered the journey from formulating the idea, finding an investor and seeing their product/service turn into a reality in less than a year.

Initially, the presentation had failed to impress the judges; they were out in the first round itself. Though they were out of the competition in the first hour but got the order of delivering 150 flavoured bottles. The trio grabbed the opportunity and delivered the bottles. Since then, it was never looking back for them.

The central theme of the start-up is making flavoured water without adding any preservatives. They carried out intense research on Google to prepare a healthy drink without sugar and soda. But soon, the trio realised that turning an idea into reality is not easy when you are a minor. From procuring the license to necessary permissions from the food department and approval from FSSAI were all are a herculean task. As a minor, their parents had to do all the work and sought the permission on their behalf.

With the aim of refining their idea, they participated in the entrepreneurship competitions at IIT-Kanpur and IIM-Indore and received wide appreciation. The major boost came after Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) decided to incubate their idea. They also helped them in applying for a patent, which is in the advanced stage.

By January, they had sold 8,000 bottles of flavoured water, kewra, rose and bel flavours through business to the market.

As they were looking for a major jump, an investor called them to Indore for a meeting in January. The meeting was successful in the first hour. They decided to fund Rs 3 crore. Under the agreement, the school boys have the responsibility of marketing and research. The plant will be based in Indore.

Other than school textbooks, they read UG and PG books on management to learn the tactics of marketing. At a very young age, the trio had started a venture which any of the students of this age may just imagine. These high school students are defining the lines of “Chhota baccha jaan ke humko naa samjhana re.” Because what they have achieved at this age is something which the kids weren’t expected. They were made to focus on their boards instead of exploring their new side. Instead of what they like, kids were drowned under the weights of textbooks and were locked inside the room to study for hours. If only, parents could understand this, not every child is different.
